3D Media: Spring Semester 2023

Assignment #1:

Create a 3D piece using natural forms around an object.

For this piece, I chose to work with the inside of an old computer monitor. By ripping off the metal backing, I was able to reveal the motherboard inside and use the old screen as glass shards. A 3" spray insulation foam was used to create the natural shapes around the object.

Assignment #2:

Create an 18" by 24" cardboard piece using various boxes/scraps. Chose a word that describes you and demonstarte it.

This piece was created using old Amazon shipping boxes and an old shoe box for the little colored circles. The word I chose to exemplify was dynamic, the ability for contradicting parts of my personality to coexist simultaneously while working together.

Assignment #3:

Using a 2' by 4' wooden block, wooden dowels, and liquid super glue, create an abstract, non representational piece that connects the wooden dowels to the block at two seperate points and expresses continuity in the form. In order to construct a proper form, experience using a sanding block and a bandsaw was necessary. Finish by embelishing the project creatively.

Assignment #4:

Started off with an empty milk cartoon and poured wet plaster inside to create a solid form. After it was try, we removed the plaster and were tasked to carve a shape into it using several tools, being sure to include at least one hole. I went with the design of a mushroom with holes around the top, and an open hole in the middle that may be able serve as a ring holder.
